It is located at the town’s peak, atop the Hill of Monte Smith about 3 km from the city center. The Acropolis of Rhodes dates back to the Classical Greek Period, built on the highest point of the city. It commands spectacular, panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The archaeological interest at this site are the column remains of the Temple of Pythian Apollo, a restored ancient stadium and odeon.

It is particularly poignant to visit this location just before sundown, for enjoying the astonishing sunset colours over the west coast of Rhodes and far into the Aegean sea.
